I watched the most beautiful woman I have ever slept with walk across the hall to the elevator and push the down button.

Tilly was an absolute goddess. I wanted to explore and taste every inch of her. She was a wildcat and watching her come was my ultimate fantasy.

And would be my third strike.

I’ll admit, getting caught by the CFO while I was finger banging Grace, my sexy Brazilian secretary, wasn’t my proudest moment. Nor was it when three board members were early for their appointment and walked in on me fucking Grace’s replacement, Serena, over the back of the couch with my nine-inch strap on. But one thing I made sure I never developed was feelings.

That was one thing my mother had insisted on, the minute she found out I was gay: “Feelings are dangerous things in this world,” she told me on my twenty-first birthday. “As a future CEO, you need to keep your affairs private. Fuck, but don’t feel. You got that, Jessie?”

My mother was a badass bitch if nothing else. My father had been the fling of the week for her twenty years ago, when she was a rising broker. She never bothered to tell him I even existed. And that was fine with me.

In the end, it was really no surprise my CFO had decided to oversee the hiring of Hank - the face he was obviously a gay man wasn’t lost on me.

Max Baker, my partner and longtime friend of my mother, who had trained me well in this position, wasn’t happy about my...indiscretions. Well, no one was, really.

“Can’t you just go to a bar and pick up women like normal people do?” he whined in my office a few weeks ago. “Surely you have the free time now.”

I had thrown him an evil look. “It’s not that easy.”

“Everyone here knows you’re gay,” he had leaned forward and pulled his pressed slacks down at the knees. “What does it matter if the stockholders find out? What are you scared of?”

I couldn’t answer him. There was something about going out in public, where the media could potentially see me, and picking up a woman, as Max, the cisgender, married father of three so casually put it.

“I just would rather keep it private,” was all I had said.

“Well, this is your last chance, Mulligan.” He stood and buttoned his double-breasted suit. “The Board won’t let this kind of behavior from its star closer, and I don’t know how I can convince them to keep you if this happens again.”

His words sparked that familiar Mulligan fire within me. “You can’t fire me; my mother’s name, her reputation, is on the line!”

He laid a hand on my shoulder as he passed me on the way to the door.
